Feedback, assessments and reflection
Ask for a short piece of feedback after a presentation or observed task: what went well, what to improve and what to practise next. Discuss university assessment requirements early and arrange suitable supervised opportunities. Keep reflections anonymous and record learning points without patient-identifiable information. Before the placement ends, review your progress and complete outstanding attendance records and assessments.
Looking after yourself
Take agreed breaks, stay hydrated and let your supervisor know if you are struggling. Emergency care can be emotionally demanding; ask for a debrief after a difficult encounter. Raise concerns about your learning, supervision or wellbeing with the placement team or university tutor. For an immediate patient safety concern, speak to the clinical team straight away.
